Kansas Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters
The State Animal Response Team coalition of Kansas, which includes the Kansas State Animal Response Team, the 7 regional teams and the county teams, is one of many Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD). The Kansas VOAD is the forum where organizations share knowledge and resources throughout the disaster cycle—preparation, response and recovery—to help disaster survivors and their communities. Members of the Kansas VOAD form a coalition of non-profit organizations that respond to disasters as part of their overall mission. Animal response teams are encouraged to reach out to their regional VOAD and participate in meetings to strength partnerships, to develop collaborative preparedness and response plans, and advocate for the inclusion of animals in the process.
