2015 ASPCA Grant Sponsored Training
Dr Dick Green, ASPCA Director of Disaster Response and Eric Thompson, Code 3 Associates Disaster Response Director teamed up to offer an incredible two day course on May 29-30, 2015 at El Dorado Lake in El Dorado, Kansas on equipment, safety and procedures for human and pet slack water rescue. This day of training brought together volunteers from the south central Kansas regional animal response team, the KC Metro regional animal response team, the Kansas State Animal Response Team, Newton (Kansas) Animal Control, Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Iowa, Mission Township fire department in Topeka, KS, McPherson policy department, Nebraska Humane Society and the ASPCA. Funding for this training was original acquired by the ARL of Iowa through the 2014 ASPCA Midwestern Resiliency Grant program, but due to the low response for volunteer training they agreed to move the training to Kansas, where it filled up quickly. Thank you to the ARL group for sharing this training opportunity!
